Dodge the Tobacco Industry - Dodge Ball Tournament was a HUGE sucess! Over 120 people came to dodge the industry, compete for prizes and learn how Big Tobacco targets them. In the grade 5-9 the 1st place winners were the "Dominators" with captin Evan Ripley-McNeil. In grade 9-12 the 1st place winners were the Pocket Rockets" with caption Kevin Thibeault. Displays on Sun Safety, Street Drugs, Chew Tobacco, Tobacco Trivia and I Can Be Healthy were set up and were a hit as people learned while winning prizes . Comments from the team members included:
- Awesome event
- Do it more often
- I learned how much gross stuff is in a cigarette
- Learned that 130 people die every day and that every 45 minutes someone dies in Canada

The Peer Leaders then headed to the Pines and each grade 11 class were delivered a rose. Students and teacher eyes opened wide as the letter was read along with a reminder that the average age a Canadian has their first cigarette is at 12.8 years old.
